Handmade Ikat Ottoman, Grey, Pink & Blue
We are absolutely thrilled to get our hands on this collection of extraordinary Ikat fabric ottomans. These bold pieces are a stunning showcase for the traditional hand-woven Ikat patterns from Uzbekistan.
Ikat is a complex yarn dyeing technique used to pattern textiles; once dyed, the yarns are woven into cloth. The 'blurryness' of the design is characteristic of Ikat textiles, a product of the extreme difficulty the weaver has of lining up the dyed yarns in order to create the pattern. Ikat weaving has been tradition for many centuries in the Fergana Valley region of Uzbekistan, an important stop on the ancient Silk Road route, where Ikat patterns and weaving techniques have been handed down through generation after generation.
Each ottoman has been hand built and upholstered to display the incredible Ikat patterns. The rich colours and motifs come together to create a kaleidoscopic piece of furniture.
Collected on travels through Asia by a well-connected funky dude who’s business motto is ‘good shit, good prices’, these are a rare find. Each ottoman is completely unique and the perfect accent in a colourful home! Use it as seating at a dining table, at the foot of your bed or even in a hallway.
