Our Lady of Covadonga is more commonly known as the Blessed Virgin Mary, she has a shrine devoted to her at Covadonga in Asturias in north west Spain. A statue of the Virgin Mary was secretly hidden in the caves during the Battle of Covadonga, when the Moorish invasion of Spain was first resisted, and was believed to have miraculously aided the Christian victory. Ave Maria!
