'El Lan E' by Mary Naylor
El Lan E,
Like the dazzle of a fluorescent bathroom bulb on a midnight trip to the toilet. There is no way to avoid her light,
We are excited to introduce talented portrait artist Mary Naylor and her latest exhibition Stirrups and Dolphins, created especially for Oklahoma. Stirrups and Dolphins is comprised of six stunning acrylic paintings, each titled in tribute to the women who have had a positive impact on the artist's life.
Born in Salford in 1988, Mary Naylor began her creative career studying graphic design and fine art. 2021 marks her first year as a full-time artist, during which she has specialised in large-scale portraits.
While paint is her medium of choice, Mary keeps her practice playful by experimenting with various mediums from textiles to sculpture. She describes her images as "a patchwork of clashing colour, enriched with depth and details that make the most mundane scenes delightful."
Celebrating talented artists and makers is what we're all about at Oklahoma, and it's an honour for us to be able to showcase the work of a fresh Manchester-based artist once again.
